In addition to offering over 250 courses in various undergraduate fields of study, the University of Northampton offers foundation degrees, diplomas, postgraduate up to PhD level. It is one of the few universities in the UK able to offer two year fast-track degrees for Management, Marketing and Law, although it also offers four-year extended degrees with a year in industry. The University of Northampton also leads and engages in a wide variety of research at regional, national and international level. In the Research Assessment Exercise 2008, the University was recognised as a world leader for its research activities.

Since first opening its doors in 1924 as Northampton Technical college, Northampton has grown into a full-fledged university which now houses approximately 14,000 students on two campuses, Park Campus and Avenue Campus.
